There’s no time to catch your breath after last issue’s shocking ending as an emotionally unstable Batgirl must confront one of Batman’s most violent foes: The Ventriloquist!
*Sighs*
Where do I begin with my write up on this crap. Let’s say that I am enjoying writing my assignment on a summary of MDGs and targets in world organization projects than this. (BTW, this assignment is shit boring!)
Let’s start of with the Catwoman/Batman (or lack there of) story. Seriously, DC Comics need to get a phone line, internal email, or at the very least an IM or twitter communication going, because they can be seriously charged with false advertising.
The solicit for this story said “ Following the events of “Death in the Family,” how can Catwoman ease Batman’s troubled soul?”
WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH!! Did you read the same comic as me Mr/Ms Solicit writer? Batman doesn’t even show up, let alone discuss “The Events of Death in the Family” (Pretty sure it’s suppose to be Death ofThe Family…

(whoops! Guess you didn’t pass your eye test, Mr Editor.)
I was seriously bummed out and felt completely cheated from this. I expected to see Catwoman and Batman… I got a stupid flash back. Basically what you see in the preview, yeah that’s it. Then a “Hey buy Catwoman 18 to see if they hook up” at the end.
Next,
The Barbara Gordon story. Now if you have ever read my blog, you know I love all things Babs. But this piece of nonsense valentine story just… UGH! makes me hate Batgirl and Barbara. I thought the Ricky kiss in Annual was a bit
To me. I mean it was so random. It’s like the new 52 is full of random let’s make them kiss moments. Let’s shift a little off topic… WE DON’T LIKE THAT DC COMICS. If it’s completely and utterly random with absolutely build up to a romance it’s boring and crazy and actually a bit whore-ish and one night stand-ish. You need to show a connection to characters so that the reader may develop a connection to them, eg. JK Rowling showing the growing connection between Ron and Hermione. It was built up from book one to when they finally became a couple at the end of 6 start of 7. Do you know how many pages of character and emotional development that is? A lot of trees. Unlike THESUPERDUPERFAKEMANCE between Wondy and Supes or now this shit between Ricky and Babs.
I do not, do not approve of this thing between Babs and Ricky they are pushing. It just is not right. It doesn’t feel right.
Oh and before I forget… Let’s look at the solicits again
”Barbara Gordon has always been too busy for romance, but could her role as Batgirl bring her back to the first guy she ever kissed?”
First guy she ever kissed. So you’re telling me that she and Dick have been an item since they were kids (Batgirl 3) and they in fact dated (Batgirl 0) but never kissed. My 15 year old cousin has then, in fact, kissed more guys than 21 year hot as hell Barbara Gordon. Yeah sure DC Comics. What junk are you guys smoking in that office?! Seriously, you don’t communicate in this office do you? Is it like that big of a deal and inconvenience to you guys to email each other? Whatever!
At this point in the comic I was like can I get a refund?
The Aquaman and Mera story (Solicit: Aquaman makes waves as he treats his wife like a queen for a day.) WHAT A LIE! Unless you count getting lost at sea and not spending time together. The end was sweet but… Bleh.
Poor Nightwing is allllll I have to say about that. (Solicit: Dick Grayson and the daughter of Lucious Fox meet-cute!) Dude… I’m pretttttty sure it’s Lucius. Are the editors on V-day vacation? DC Comics is a huge publication and for them to mis-spell a character’s name, who has been around since 1979 (34 years), yeah that’s a big WHOOPS!
As for the SUPERDUPERFAKEMANCE date night… wow what a load of crap. Give that a skip.
I can’t really comment on “From the pages of STORMWATCH, Apollo and Midnighter celebrate Valentine’s Day separately but with each other in mind. Who—or what—stands between them?” because I am not familiar with the characters or story.
All in all, the best part of the comic was the cards at the back
I can’t believe I wasted $7,99 on that.
